EGCGEGCG is a natural green tea extract. Green tea is prepared from the steamed and dried leaves of Camellia sinensis, a large shrub with evergreen leaves native to eastern Asia. Green tea is different from black tea in that it is produced from leaves that have been withered, rolled, fermented, and dried. Because of the curing process, the properties of the green tea are very similar to that of the fresh leaf. Green tea contains polyphenols (catechins), tannins, flavonols, and methylxanthines (caffeine, theophylline, theobromine).
